As NJPCC's team of dedicated doctors work diligently to provide back pain relief to state residents, they also attend to conditions that may cause pain in other portions of the body as well. While body joint damage and slipped vertebrae discs may require sciatica treatment or herniated disk treatment, some ailments may instead affect the body's nervous system. Although damage to the nervous system is incredibly difficult to fix, pain medicine is still useful in treating these conditions.

One condition, known as peripheral neuralgia, occurs when the nervous system is damaged. Due to the fragile nature of the nervous system, this painful ailment can be brought on as a result of disease, surgical damage, and physical trauma among a number of other potential causes. As a result of this damage, sufferers feel intense pain in specific portions of the body (which vary from person to person) and other sensations such as steady burning or pricking. Treatment for peripheral neuralgia can include pain relief medications, antidepressants, anticonvulsants and alternative therapy.
